Ingredients Oils, Fats & Waxes The emollient properties of these are used to soften & soothe the skin. They help maintain moisture, supply essential fatty acids, vitamins and minerals to the skin. They are often used as the base of the product. I do not use any Parabens, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hydroxymethylglycinate, Iodopropynyl butylcarbamate, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Unigerm, Suttocide that can interfere with your endocrine system. Nor do I use any Neurotoxic preservatives like phenoxyethanol, Harsh surfactants like sodium, ammonium and lauryl/laureth sulfates, Petrochemicals, including PEGs, paraffin and other glycols, Silicones, Mineral oils, artificial fragrances or colours, grain alcohols, Phthalates, Bisphenol-A (BPA), Genetically modified or irradiated ingredients or animal derivatives found in many skin care products. My ingredients that I use are natural ingredients with no nasties to soothe & nourish your skin. Apricot kernel oil (Prunus armeniaca) - Apricot Kernel Oil offers light texture, significant absorption & moisture retention without leaving an oily feeling. Nourishing and revitalizing properties popular in for dry or aged skin. It is beneficial in relieving the itchiness and is suitable for sensitive skin. High in oleic acid and rich in Vitamin A and minerals. Carrot oil (Daucus carota) - Carrot oil is full of beta carotene (vitamin A). It helps with cell regeneration, is beneficial after injuries to reduce scars, replenish, rebuild and rejuvenate skin. It is a very effective treatment of various skin burns, eczema and dermatitis, as well as having the ability to lessen the visibility of wrinkles and uneven skin tone. Rich in essential fatty acids which greatly benefit the skin through improved moisturisation, elasticity, and softness. Contains beta-carotene, which is a key nutrient for maintaining healthy skin and assisting skin cell renewal and repair. Beta-carotene also helps to repair and protect the skin from various forms of sun damage. Coconut triglycerides (caprylic/capric triglyceride) Helps condition the skin providing noticeable silkiness, contains antioxidant properties, high in essential fatty acids and offers the skin nurturing benefits. Especially suited to sensitive skin. It is made by specialized esterification of Coconut Oil using just the Caprylic and Capric Fatty Acids creating a light, silky oil, feel that is not at all greasy / oily feeling on the skin due to the skin loving nature of the specific fatty acid esters not seen with common Fractionated Coconut Oil, or other carrier oils. Evening primrose oil (Oenothera biennis) – High in gamma-linoleic acid and linoleic acid essential for cell structure and to improve the elasticity of the skin. It is beneficial as an anti-aging support. It is an anti-inflammatory and useful in the management of psoriasis, eczema, acne, dry skins, strains and muscle tears. Organic cocoa butter (Theobroma cacao) moisturising, improves skin health, supports aging, soothes, softens, reduces inflammation, high concentration of antioxidant compounds, including oleic acid, palmitic acid, and stearic acid. Helps to neutralize free radicals especially in the skin, reducing the occurrence of oxidative stress, cocoa butter can help reduce the signs of aging , including wrinkles and age marks. Research has also shown cocoa butter to reduce the appearance of scars on the skin and help to boost overall skin health. Organic Jojoba oil (Simmondsia chinensis) – Highly penetrating wax, closely resembling human sebum. It is easy absorbing and provides amazing moisturising qualities. The oil reaches deep to destroy bacteria and dissolve dried sebum, it revitalises, soothes, and regenerates the skin. Suitable for sensitive, oil, young, dry and aging skin. Providing effective treatments for a variety of skin conditions. Jojoba also carries natural antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, hypoallergenic and analgesic qualities and is high in vitamin A, D & E. Organic Shea butter (Butyrospermum parkii) - moisturising lipid (fat) that helps alleviate a variety of skin conditions and provide suppleness to the skin. Unrefined Shea butter contains Vitamins A, K, E and F, minerals and antioxidants, can be used externally or internally. Natural occurring Vitamins in Shea butter help the skin stay clear and healthy, they help heal and prevent sun damage to the skin, prevent wrinkles and facial lines (which makes Shea butter great for anti ageing). Vitamins in unrefined Shea body butter protect the skin and rejuvenate tissue cells (this also means they help treat damaged skin conditions and skin irritations). Shea butter is effective for scars, dark circles around your eyes, visible spider veins and stretch marks, extremely dry skin, chapped skin, eczema, and psoriasis. Other emollients Glyceryl stearate - Acts as a lubricant on the skin's surface, which gives the skin a soft and smooth appearance. It also slows the loss of water from the skin by forming a barrier on the skin's surface. - Low hazard for health. Plant derived, biodegradable. Cetearyl alcohol - A mixture of two 'fatty' alcohols, Cetearyl Alcohol is an emollient (moisturizer) and a viscosity increasing agent (increases the 'thickness' of a substance). Low hazard for health. Plant derived, biodegradable. Sodium stearoyl glutamate – Skin conditioning agent. Low hazard for health. Plant derived, biodegradable Vegetable glycerine - present in all natural lipids (fats). It draws moisture up through skin layers and slows or prevents excessive drying and evaporation. It is especially used for people with skin irritations. Low hazard for health. Plant derived, biodegradable Infused Oils/Macerated Oils These are made by soaking the dried herbal matter in the base oil for an extended period of time, to allow the active constituents of the plant to pass into the oil. The plant matter is then strained out of the oil and the infused oil is used as a base in creams or oil products made by Nourishe Skincare. Herbs used in Infused Oils Calendula (Calendula officinalis) - It is rich in Vitamin E and C which promotes skin healing and supports collagen growth. Calendula is an antiseptic, healing, soothing, anti-inflammatory plant used to treat itching, flaking, weeping skin conditions, burns, rashes, inflammation and sensitive skin. Carrot oil (Daucus carota sativa root) - is rich in vitamins A and E, beta carotene and carotenoids. Carotenoids have been found to enhance the body’s ability to protect the skin from UVR damage. Carotenes are strong free radical blockers, so this is an ideal oil to add to anti-ageing preparations. It is said to be a great cellular revitalising oil and a natural antioxidant, making it a favourite oil for healthy skin. Comfrey (Symphytum officinale) – Comfrey has a high content of vitamin C, carotene, B12, chlorophyll and calcium. Licorice is very effective for soothing eczema and dermatitis due to its natural cortisone properties. Meadowfoam seed oil (Limnanthes alba) - Contains over 98% long-chain fatty acids, when applied to the skin, it forms a moisture barrier and will assist the skin with preventing moisture loss, moisturizing, and maintaining moisture retention in the skin. Oregon grape (Berberis aquifolium) - Antibacterial, soothing, calming on the skin & helps reduce & heal eczema and psoriasis. St John (Hypericum perforatum) – Helps reduce inflammation, irritated skin conditions, burns, bruises, nerve pain & supports wound healing (Can cause some sun photosensitivity) Sunflower oil (Helianthus annuus) is one of the most versatile oils available for personal care products as it is high in both Linoleic and Oleic Acids. This combination makes it a relatively stable but naturally nourishing oil. It has excellent emollient properties and is rich in Vitamin E which is an important antioxidant for the protection of oils in our skin. Essential Oils & Other Ingredients Are used topically so they can penetrate and absorb into the skin to provide beneficial effects, they also absorb into the bloodstream and are inhaled which means they also benefit us on an emotional level. I do not use any synthetic fragrances. Dehydroacetic acid (ecocert approved preservative) is used as a preservative to stop anything growing in the creams, antibacterial and fungicide. Vitamin E (tocopherol) – Antioxidant that prevents oxidation and rancidity of oils by protecting against free radicals that can lead to damage of collagen and cause skin dryness, fine lines and wrinkles and other environmental damaging effects. - Discover Nourishe Natural Health: Expert Naturopathy, Herbalist & Nutrition Services
Discover effective natural health solutions with Serina, your trusted Bay of Plenty naturopath in New Zealand. Helping you achieve vitality and balance. Meet Serina At Nourishe Botanicals, Serina Gardner is a 2014 Bachelor qualified Naturopath, Medical Herbalist and Nutritionist she is passionate about optimal health, great skincare, herbal tea and living a life filled with good health, energy & laughter. As a mother, she understands how small changes in your health can make such dramatic changes to your whole family. Since her late teens, she has been drawn to natural health. After finishing high school, she realised they learned very little about the body or nutrition, so she started reading as much as she could on these topics. In her early twenties, Serina worked in the natural skincare industry learning and developing a deep love for aromatherapy, and became fascinated around the ingredients in skincare. She started making her own skincare products as a hobby, studying aromatherapy, and continuing to read as much as she could on nutrition, how to use herbs for health, and other natural home remedies. In 2007 she had her daughter, and then her husband had a massive accident involving 8 months in hospital and the following 2 years in recovery, which led to Serina going through burnout, illness, and years of chronic fatigue. She realised during this that life is short and you should do what you want with it! This was a huge learning curve but it gave Serina the courage to return to school and complete a Bachelor of Natural Medicine. She learned about goal setting and following her dreams rather than just talking about it, She also learned how to heal herself, love life, and how to help you live life to the fullest with the best health. After a great experience working in Health Shops directly with customers and gyms as a nutritionist, she challenged herself and in 2014 opened Nourishe Botanicals so she could help clients working as a Naturopath, Nutritionist, and Medical Herbalist. Serina sees clients online for Health Consultation. She has the best of her products online for you to enjoy. She hopes you love them as much as she does. Registered Member

We use herbal medicine, nutrition, supplements, and lifestyle support, alongside functional testing and blood tests, and will ask a lot of questions. Naturopaths work to address the root causes of imbalance rather than only managing symptoms. Common reasons people seek naturopathic support include hormone imbalance, digestive issues, fatigue, stress, immune health, and skin concerns.
